Sling TV, a subsidiary of Dish Network Corporation, today launched two new services- a single-stream Sling Orange and a multi-stream Sling Blue service. The cheaper Sling Orange service, which will cost $20 a month, includes BBC America and will come with extra packs like LifeStyle Plus Extra and World News Extra which will cost $5 each. The more expensive Sling Blue service will include NBC, USA, Bravo, NBC Sports Network (NBCSN), Syfy and BBC America and will cost $25 per month. Sling Blue will also come with many more extra packs like Sports Extra, LifeStyle Plus Extra, World News Extra and the Best of Spanish TV which will cost $5 each. The World News Extra pack will include the likes of BBC World, France 24, News18, NDTV 24/7 and euronews. Apart from introducing these two services, Sling TV has also introduced some changes to its Spanish language programming.
Sling TV is also offering a discount for those who would like to avail both services at the same time. Instead of paying $45, customers of this multi-service offering will need to pay just $40 a month. “Consumers now have more than 100 channels to choose from as they customize their ideal television experience. With our new multi-service option and NBC Universal programming, Sling is one of the few pay-TV options where value continues to improve,” said Roger Lynch, CEO of Sling TV. The more expensive Sling Blue service will however be available at $20 per month for those customers who signed up for it when it was released as a beta version not too long ago. Sling Blue customers will also be able to access NBC content in ten markets which include Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Hartford, Conn., Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, San Diego and Washington D.C. and will be able to access on-demand programs in the near future.
Launched in January of last year as a live TV streaming service, Sling TV cost $20 per month and arrived with live TV shows and other content like ESPN, ESPN 2, TNT, TBS, The Food Network and on-demand programming. Back in February of this year, Sling TV offered its users the ability to access Cinemax for an additional $10 a month, which meant access to a ton of movies and original TV series content like The Knick, Strike Back, Banshee, and Hunted. This, along with the addition of Chromecast support to its services, now makes Sling TV a great service to enjoy without having to pay hefty bills of cable services. The launch of Sling Orange and Sling Blue services now makes it easier for customers to choose the best service that suits their needs and availability of a number of extra packs are also handy options, especially for sports fans who will be able to buy the Sports Extra pack when major tournaments will be taking place.
