Connected home equipment is by and large one of the more popular sectors of technology right now, and this could be for anything from smart home products such as connected lights and smart thermostats to smart, connected health-related items such as the ‘Thermo’ connected thermometer that Withings announced back during CES in January. Withings, a company who specializes in connected devices that are geared to health and wellness, was acquired by Nokia recently, who is now unveiling their first product since the acquisition, a connected scale called the Withings Body Cardio aimed at helping consumers keep track of their cardiovascular health.
Beyond cardiovascular assessments, which Nokia Technologies states is a first for a connected scale, the Withings Body Cardio can deliver handfuls of various information such as body mass index, weight, body composition which includes fat, water, and bone mass, standing heart rate, and the Pulse Wave Velocity measurements. Naturally, users of the Body Cardio scale will be able to see a compiled and detailed view of these readings through the Withings Health Mate app that’s available on the Play Store, which they can also use to set and achieve goals and visualize cardiovascular and other health trends.
Although meant to be highly functional, the Body Cardio also aims to deliver a stylish design that fits right in the home along with other decor, featuring a slim aluminum form factor that doesn’t take up much space and carries a sleek finish, coming in white or black colors. The scale is 0.7-inches thin and utilizes a footless design and heat tempered glass, and Nokia states it’s capable of delivering and accurate and seamless weighing experience regardless of the surface the scale is placed on. Instead of using replaceable batteries like some scales, the Body Cardio has a built-in rechargeable battery which is capable of lasting on a single charge for an entire year according to Nokia. Those who are interested in grabbing the Withings Body Cardio connected scale can already do so starting from today, and it can be purchased through the Withings website at a price of $179.95 for either available color. Consumers will also be able to pick it up through other retailers throughout the Summer.
