The OnePlus One, OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X devices have been quite popular. These are the only three devices OnePlus has introduced until today when the company announced their third-gen flagship, the OnePlus 3. We’ve already covered the main announcement of this smartphone, and are here to take a closer look at the specs of this metal-clad smartphone. The OnePlus 3 is a real powerhouse, no matter which way you look at it, so let’s take a look at what it has to offer.
The OnePlus 3 is made out of anodized aluminum, and it sports a metal unibody design. OnePlus mentioned that this phone actually uses a premium space-grade aluminum alloy which makes this device really sturdy, and yet quite light at the same time. The OnePlus 3 features a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080, 401 ppi) Optic AMOLED display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4 on top of it, along with 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB of internal storage (UFS 2.0). Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor fuels this smartphone, and it is clocked at 2.2 GHz. The Adreno 530 GPU ships with this SoC, and is in charge of graphics rendering. The OnePlus 3 comes with a 16-megapixel OIS/EIS camera (PDAF, f/2.0 aperture, 1.12um pixel size, Sony’s IMX298 sensor), and an 8-megapixel front-facing snapper (f/2.0 aperture, Sony’s IMX179 sensor, 1.4um pixel size, EIS, fixed focus). OnePlus 3’s camera comes with a number of (software) features, including Dynamic De-noise, HD Mode, Auto HDR Mode and Smile Capture.
The 3,000 mAh non-removable battery is included in this package, and thanks to OnePlus’ Dash Charge quick charging, you’ll be able to charge this battery really fast. Dash Charge carries more current, while it manages to keep the voltage down to 5 volts, which basically means the charging is fast and yet stable and consistent. Dash Charge can get you 60% of battery in just 30 minutes, says OnePlus. OnePlus 3 is a dual SIM handset (2 x nano SIM), and both 4G LTE (300 Mbps speed support) and NFC are a part of this package. The model of this device for North America will support FDD-LTE Bands 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12 and 17, and CDMA EVDO: BCO. As far as European and Asian models are concerned, you’ll get support for FDD-LTE Bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8 and 20 and TDD-LTE Bands 38, 40 and 41. The fingerprint scanner is placed below the display once again, and it can unlock your phone in 0.2 seconds according to OnePlus. The physical ‘Alert Slider’ is back once again here, and it allows you to switch between three notification profiles (All, Priority and None). OnePlus 3 measures 152.7 x 74.7 x 7.35 mm, while it weighs 158 grams.
OnePlus has included Bluetooth 4.2 here, and same can be said for Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, and a Type-C USB 2.0 port which is located on the bottom of this phone. The device comes with a bottom-facing speaker, and dual-microphone setup with noise cancellation. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow comes out of the box with OnePlus’ OxygenOS on top of it. The device comes in Graphite and Soft Gold color variants.
