With the launch of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge earlier this year, Samsung debuted their Game Launcher. Which is their own way of doubling down on gaming, with their flagship devices. The Game Launcher is a pretty simple launcher that you can use while playing games on the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge – keep in mind these two devices sport the Vulkan API for 3D graphics, and their upcoming flagships likely will sport this API as well. However, according to a new report out of Sammobile, it looks like there are more features, and changes coming to the Game Launcher in the near future.
One of the changes is in terms of Game Tools. This is going to enhance the floating button inside games and will show users how much free storage and RAM they have available. As well as how much battery is left on their device. Seeing as the game is full-screen, and you can’t see your status bar, the battery percentage is likely the most important, and most helpful addition. Samsung is going to also make it even easier to record gameplay and then share it on social networks, including YouTube. Which is currently done through the Game Tools floating button.
The big new feature here is ‘Game Scene’. It’s a pretty simple feature, but should help gamers find games on their device. This is going to be a full-screen section that lists all of your installed games in a tile format. The Game Launcher will also have a dedicated section where trending games are shown, within Game Scene, and games can be marked as favorites, or pinned to a location within the list. Making it easier to find your game when you want to play it.
Currently, there’s no word on when this updated Game Launcher will roll out to devices. However, with the Galaxy Note 7 event just around the corner, it’s probably safe to say that we will see it with the launch of the Galaxy Note 7. It appears that Samsung won’t be keeping this update solely for the Galaxy Note 7 either, and that it’ll likely be available for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge as well.
