As it’s usually the case, Xiaomi had introduced quite a few smartphones this year. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is the most notable release by the company, but they’ve also introduced a number of Redmi-branded devices, and the Mi Max phablet. It is worth mentioning that Xiaomi sold over 100 million Redmi devices to date, which makes this line really important for the company. The Redmi 3 is one of the Redmi-branded phones Xiaomi had introduced this year, and it seems like some info regarding its successor just surfaced, read on.
According to the material which leaked in China, the upcoming Redmi 4 will be fueled by the Helio X20 64-bit deca-core processor. Now, this is the only spec info this list shares, unfortunately, but if this information is true, then the Redmi 4 might be a really compelling device for some people, especially if Xiaomi manages to keep its price down despite the Helio X20 SoC. As a reminder, the Redmi 3 is actually fueled by the Snapdragon 616 64-bit octa-core processor, which is a very capable SoC, but cannot compare to the Helio X20, which is actually the most powerful SoC MediaTek had introduced (the Helio X25 is more powerful, but it’s the same SoC, it only sports higher clock speed).
This information is very interesting, and at the same time might not be all that relevant / accurate. The Redmi 2 was announced back in January 2015, its successor arrived in January this year, so we assume that the Redmi 4 won’t launch until January 2017, and that is half a year away from, which means this information might not be accurate at all. In any case, the Redmi 4 is expected to be very affordable, just like its predecessor, and the phone will probably ship with a rather compact display, and a 3GB RAM variant, though it’s possible Xiaomi will introduce more than one variant of this phone. The Redmi 2 and 3 are made out of plastic (polycarbonate), and we might see an upgrade when it comes to the Redmi 4, but that’s just a guess on our part, we’ll see what happens when the time comes, stay tuned for more info.
