Rumor: LeEco's New Flagship To Ship With SD821 & 8GB Of RAM

LeEco (formerly Letv) is currently one of the hottest China-based smartphone manufacturers out there. This company entered the smartphone business in April last year, and has since then managed to not only release almost a dozen smartphones, but also sell quite a few of them. LeEco’s smartphones have become quite popular in China and India, and the company has also started selling their handsets on a global scale recently. The Le Max 2 is LeEco’s current flagship, this device was announced back in April, and we’re looking at a rather big phablet here. Having that in mind, it seems like LeEco might be preparing a new flagship, and a rather powerful one at that, read on.

According to the source, the all-new LeEco-branded flagship will ship with the Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core SoC, and a whopping 8GB of RAM. Yes, you read that right, it’s not a typo. Several devices out there already pack in 6GB of RAM, the ZUK Z2 Pro, LeEco Le Max 2 and OnePlus 3, for example, and if you thought that is an overkill, well, LeEco is allegedly preparing to include 8GB of RAM in their new flagship. Now, the source also claims that this device will also come with the 25-megapixel main camera, and that it will cost slightly more than 3,000 Yuan ($456). This handset will, allegedly, be a new variant of the Le Max 2, so is it possible we’re looking at the Le Max 2 Pro here? Well, it is, LeEco has introduced the ‘Pro’ variant of the original Le Max, so this makes sense.

Now, the source also claims that this new device will arrive in Red, Blue and Silver color options, and the phone is pictured in the gallery down below. Some of you may notice this basically looks identical to the Le Max 2, so it is possible the company has no intentions of changing the design of the Le Max, and might just update its specifications. It is also worth mentioning that the Snapdragon 821 has not been announced by Qualcomm just yet, but if rumors are to be believed, this SoC will be announced in the coming weeks. That is more or less it, we cannot confirm these rumors just yet, but this info sure seems interesting.
