The rumor mill is really beginning to churn, as far as the Galaxy Note 7 goes. We’re expecting to see the device unveiled in August at an Unpacked event. Samsung hasn’t yet sent out invites, seeing as the event is still nearly two months away, that’s not a big surprise. But we have been seeing a slew of rumors and leaks about the Galaxy Note 7 as of late. Including a slew of rumors showing that the next Galaxy Note will bear the number “7” instead of “6” as everyone would expect. With the latest being the fact that it won’t be launching with Android N out of the box.
Where Android N is due to be launching around August or September, some thought that Samsung may be the first to launch a non-Nexus device with Android N pre-installed, but that won’t be the case after all. According to the user agent that Hungarian site NapiDroid got their hands on. The Galaxy Note 7 is running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Which is currently the latest version of Android. The variant in this user agent appears to be the SM-N930A, which is likely the AT&T variant, if Samsung is following their latest trend in model numbers. This user agent doesn’t reveal any other information about the device unfortunately.
The Galaxy Note 7 is looking like it’ll be the only device announced by Samsung in August. As the rumor mill has told us that there is just one device this time around, instead of two. Last August, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 5 as well as the Galaxy S6 Edge+. The year before, the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note 4 Edge were unveiled at Samsung’s Unpacked event in Berlin ahead of IFA. But with the Galaxy S7 Edge being a larger 5.5-inch smartphone this time around, it looks like Samsung is going to stick with just three flagships for 2016. The Galaxy Note 7 is said to feature a flat display, meaning that it won’t be a curved display like the Galaxy S7 Edge. This is great news for those that have been wanting to pick up the Galaxy Note 7, but may not want a curved display.
