Samsung took the veil off its 360-degree camera during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and later on at the end of April, the gadget debuted in South Korea and Singapore for the equivalent price of roughly US$350. Now, while the Samsung Gear 360 is not yet available worldwide, the gadget is expected to reach new regions by the end of June, and to remind prospective customers how the Samsung Gear 360 can be “a perfect 360-degree companion for your life”, the Korean tech giant published two new promotional videos showcasing the device and the type of content it can create.
Samsung’s latest promotional videos for its 360-degree camera emphasize on the idea that the device is a perfect companion for outdoor activities, and can be used in a variety of ways thanks to its universal tripod connector. The videos feature a young couple on a road trip, documenting their memories in 360-degree videos by attaching the Samsung Gear 360 to a variety of accessories, including drones, helmet mounts, and selfie sticks. Using a camera dock, the Samsung Gear 360 can also act as a “dashboard” camera in a car, and the videos also show the unit being attached to a guitar with a clamp. Needless to say, the two videos showcase the Samsung Gear 360 in a variety of scenarios, and it’s interesting to note that, although one of the videos shapes up more like a TV ad, the second one has been recorded solely with the Samsung Gear 360 and, as expected, it is a 360-degrees video which can be “explored” from all angles.
As for readers who may be more interested in hardware details and specifications, the Samsung Gear 360 is equipped with two 16-megapixel cameras with F2.0 fisheye lens, a DRIMe5s image processor, 1 GB of RAM, a microSD card slot which can read cards with capacities of up to 200 GB, and a 1,350 mAh battery.
