If you own an HTC 10, not only do you have one of this year’s top devices, you’re also in for an update to the software, which introduces a handful of security fixes as well as some updates to the camera. Having said that, this is an update that is coming through the pipeline but only for the Sprint model of the HTC 10 at the moment. HTC’s Mo Versi has announced the details over on Twitter not long ago, stating that the over-the-air update is now available from today to install if you have a Sprint model of the device, which means it could still be a couple of days at least before all Sprint HTC 10 owners have the new software installed.
While a good portion of the update that is going out today to the Sprint HTC 10 has to do with security updates and fixes for the device, it also brings along some camera improvements as well, something which the Verizon model of the device saw in an update earlier this month, as did the unlocked models of the HTC 10 before that. Mo Versi doesn’t go into detail about the camera updates which he refers to as “camera tuning,” but chances are that the tuning is the same improvements to the camera that has already hit other HTC 10 variants.
As for the security fixes, this is likely just the June security patch for the phone which Google themselves posted up for Nexus devices towards the beginning of June, something which the unlocked HTC 10 has already received the update for as well. Despite not sharing any specifics when it comes to details, the security improvements should make the device a bit safer which is never a bad thing. Alongside the security patch and the camera tuning, the update being sent out also includes various bug fixes to the phone. If you have a Sprint model HTC 10 and haven’t yet received the update over-the-air, you can always manually check on the update by navigating over to the settings menu, then to about phone, and finally by tapping on the software update button to see if it’s available.
