In late March of 2015, Samsung released two new flagship smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge which brought a new and refreshing look to Samsung’s Galaxy lineup and boosted the company’s sales. In terms of specs, the Galaxy S6 comes with a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display, an Exynos 7420 chipset clocked at 2.1GHz coupled with 3GB of RAM. It comes in storage flavors of either 32GB, 64GB or 128GB and isn’t expandable. The device comes with a 16MP rear camera equipped with optical image stabilization, while the front sports a 5MP camera. In terms of battery, it comes with a non-removable 2550mAh battery. The Galaxy S6 Edge on the other hand, comes equipped with almost identical specs save for the battery, it has a slightly larger battery capacity of 2600mAh. The Galaxy S6 Edge also sports a unique curved screen which can be used to do simple tasks such as swiping the edge screen to open the camera app. Both devices came with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box and has since been updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow by Samsung back in February of this year. A couple of months later, US-based mobile carrier, T-Mobile USA, released an update for their Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge devices to transition from Android 5.0 Lollipop to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Since then, T-Mobile has updated other Galaxy devices to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, such as the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge, which were just updated yesterday. Today, T-Mobile USA will be rolling out a new firmware update to all its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge devices. The company has updated the software version to G920TUVU4EPF1 on the Galaxy S6, while the Galaxy S6 Edge has been updated to software version G925TUVU4EPF1. The update brings various improvements to both devices, such as an important June security maintenance release, an anti-theft update, plus a fix for various bugs and improvements. The update comes in at a size of 247.41 MB which is not very large as it is only an incremental update. The update is currently being rolled out over the air and users can expect it to receive it soon. Do take note that the device requires at least a 50% charge to download the update and it’s best to be connected to Wi-Fi.
