Big names out of China have been expanding into other products for some time now and while the West remains a tough nut to crack, these Chinese companies have been able to expand further into Asia. Nobody has done that quite as well as Xiaomi have, becoming a household name in the country after just a short time, the Xiaomi line of devices have proven extremely popular in India, and it’s not hard to see why. With many of their devices offering the same sort of features and specs you’d expect from big names like Samsung, but without the associated cost, Xiaomi have taken the Indian market by storm. Their latest and greatest flagship, the Mi 5 is available from Mi.com, but it’s now available from other online retailers.
These new retailers include Amazon IN, Flipkart and Snapdeal. These big three will be selling the Mi 5 for RS 24,999 without the need for registrations or anything like that. Joining these larger retailers is Tata CliQ, which will be selling the Mi 5 for the same price. This price tag of RS 24,999 is for the Mi 5 with 32GB of storage onboard and 3GB of RAM. This is a pretty good price for the Mi 5, and while it was always going to be available directly from Xiaomi, it’s nice to see that they’re finally arriving at other retailers in the region. This news follows the news that the Mi 5 is now available without the need to wait for a flash sale. Many users will no doubt be happy that the latest Mi 5 is now available freely online, but Xiaomi has some competition in the region. Samsung has resolved to offer devices at a lower-cost in the region and LeEco are trying their best to turn heads as well. With the launch of two new devices – complete with 6GB of RAM – this is a brand that could certainly give Xiaomi a run for their money. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 3 is launching next week as well, and OnePlus has also been a brand that Indian customers have been happy with.
