Xiaomi Announces Mi Max Product Launch in India

Earlier this month, Xiaomi officially announced the launch of the “Mi Community India” website in the said region, allowing customers and fans of the brand to provide feedback, beta test products including the proprietary MIUI 8 ROM, and benefit from a variety of offers, early previews and so on. The platform entered beta testing on June 14 and was confirmed to be open to the general public beginning with the 20th of the month. Sure enough, everything went according to Xiaomi’s plans and starting today, fans of the brand in India can officially become community members. To commemorate the event, Xiaomi is now inviting community members to register for the 2016 Mi Product Launch in India, where the Xiaomi Mi Max along with the proprietary MIUI 8 ROM will be introduced at the end of the month.

The Xiaomi Mi Max is set to be officially introduced in India on the 30th of June during a launch event taking place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. Fans of the brand and members of the new Mi Community can register on the Mi Community website in hopes of winning a ticket for the launch event, and selected participants will be notified via SMS. The registration period will last for three days until the 23rd of June, so make sure to act quickly or mark your calendars. Event participants will also have the opportunity of winning “goodie bags” prepared by Xiaomi for the launch event, but the bag’s contents are meant to be a surprise so no details have been given in this regard.

As for the launch event and the Xiaomi Mi Max itself, the smartphone in question was first unveiled in China in May 2016 and was released for the starting price of 1,499 Chinese Yuan, or the equivalent of roughly $230. Spec-wise the Xiaomi Mi Max is equipped with a 6.44-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, it draws processing power from a Snapdragon 652 chipset, and can be purchased with either 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM on-board. Whether or not the device will be offered in multiple configurations in India remains to be seen, but in China, the smartphone’s price can go as high as 1,999 Yuan ($307) for the model sporting 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. Regardless of the memory configuration the terminal is equipped with a 16-megapixel main camera, a 5-megapixel secondary sensor, and draws energy from a 4,850 mAh battery.
