In terms of Samsung, much of the focus right now is currently on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 7. However, that is not the only Samsung device due to be released soon or seeing a number of rumors and details coming through prior to its release. While not in the same league as the Galaxy Note 7, the budget-focused Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016) has been making a number of headlines recently with one of the most recent and interesting being that the Galaxy J2 could come equipped with Samsung’s new Smart Glow functionality. Now, there is an even clearer picture of the Galaxy J2 starting to emerge thanks to a fresh report coming out of VentureBeat today and citing “someone who was briefed on the phone’s features and specifications”.
In terms of the specs, the report details that most of the internal aspects have been bumped up since last year’s model with the Galaxy J2 (2016) set to come equipped with a 4.7-inch 720p AMOLED display. Inside, the Galaxy J2 will come loaded with 1.5GB RAM and will be powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor. Storage remains unchanged from the previous model with 8GB internal storage on offer, although expansion is possible thanks to the inclusion of a microSD card slot. In terms of cameras, this looks to be another significant bumping area, with this year’s model set to come loaded with an 8-megapixel rear camera, which is coupled with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. While additional features noted are said to include a 2,600 mAh battery and Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) out of the box.
In terms of the Smart Glow feature, the current report does also look to confirm that this will be a feature included on the 2016 Galaxy J2, essentially confirming the previous reports. While in terms of pricing and availability, the report also suggests the launch event could take place as early as Monday and that the Galaxy J2 will likely be priced around (or under) the $150 marker. Not to mention, it could go on sale as early as next week as well, with the current report suggesting a high likelihood that it will make its way to the US in due course.
