As with any phone, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is bound to be subject to its fair share of leaks and rumors, with some angles even falling into both camps. The newest leak, coming from the Xiaomi Store, sets out a high-end spec sheet and a price that’s about on par for a flagship Xiaomi device, if a tiny bit on the low side. Given the specs on offer here, it is likely safe to say that this is definitely a different device from the “markw” that hit Geekbench not long ago. The timing is a bit strange, given that the Mi 5S only leaked out recently, which takes away a little bit of credence from the already-shaky leak; all things considered, this should be treated as rumor.
To get down to the nitty gritty, the leaked Xiaomi Mi 6, represented by a generic placeholder image, will run users $499. For that price, they’ll get themselves a device with a 5.2 inch screen with a 1920 x 1080 resolution; great quality for normal usage, but not optimal for VR. The unlocked device comes running Xiaomi’s MIUI rom in its 7th iteration, most likely based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, since the version is not listed. That software will be running on the rumored Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 processor with an Adreno 540 GPU, backed by 4GB of RAM. This combination of a blazing processor and plentiful RAM pushing pixels to a relatively low-resolution screen promises some serious performance, if these specs are to be believed. On the camera front, users will get a 16-megapixel back camera and a 4-megapixel dual-camera selfie snapper. The battery is a 3,000mAh unit. Storage is set at 64GB, but there was no word on the presence or absence of a MicroSD slot.
As far as sensors, physical features and other miscellaneous details, the phone will sport a 3.5mm headphone jack, a fingerprint sensor of some sort somewhere, along with NFC and the usual array of sensors. An IR blaster is also along for the ride. Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.2 are on board, along with a slate of worldwide 2G and 3G bands. LTE looks to be strictly TDD-LTE, however. The phone will measure 148.55mm in height, 71.2mm in width, and carry a trim waistline at only 7.2mm, weighing in at 135 grams. Although this leak lacks credibility due to the circumstances surrounding it and a few spelling errors in the listing, the specs and price seem just about in line with the next Xiaomi flagship. Time will tell.
