When it comes to consuming video on mobile, there are multiple options to do this. Obviously, the easiest and most commonly used is likely to be the streaming apps, like Netflix or Hulu. If you are an Amazon Prime member then chances are good that you have the Amazon Video Android app installed on your device and especially as Prime comes with a selection of subscription-included video content to watch.
If you have yet to download the Amazon Video Android app and are a Prime member, then you might want to consider it. As the app comes with some notable features that you won’t find on the likes of Netflix. Like for instance, the ability to download TV shows and movies for offline viewing. While this is an aspect which Netflix is said to have in the works and possibly arriving before the end of 2016, as it stands, the Netflix app does not currently let you do this. That said, there is only so much video content you can store on a typical smartphone’s internal storage at any given time. Especially, if your device is rather low on storage GB to begin with.
However, it looks as though Amazon is fixing that issue as the company has announced a fairly interesting update to the Amazon Video app today. One which brings with it the ability to store downloaded content directly on an SD card. According to the details, users are able to nominate the SD card as the place of storage and once assigned will have the ability to store as much video content as their SD card will allow. This applies to both content purchased through Amazon and content available as part of Amazon Prime membership. As mentioned this new feature comes by way of an update to the app and the update is now said to be en route to devices that already have the app installed. Although it is only available to Amazon Video app users in the US, the UK, Austria, Germany and Japan. As this applies to Amazon content in general, the update will be of use to any Android device owner who purchases content through Amazon and regardless of a Prime membership.
