AnTuTu Lists The 10-Most-Wanted Smartphones Of H1 2016

The smartphone market has plenty of models for prospective buyers to choose from – especially if they aim for an Android device – all thanks to “fragmentation”, which has become a blessing and a curse in Google’s mobile world. With so many smartphones on offer, opinions in regards to which smartphone is better are usually split between consumers, but AnTuTu’s latest report aims to give Android users a more detailed picture in regards to which models have dominated the market throughout the first half of the year. The study includes the global market, Mainland China, the US, India and more.

According to data gathered by AnTutu from January 2016 to June 2016, the most popular Android smartphone in the world was the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, accounting for 7.82% of the market. Unsurprisingly, it was followed by three other Samsung models, including the Samsung Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 Edge, and the Samsung Galaxy S7, ensuring the company’s spot as the world’s most influential smartphone manufacturer. However, in Mainland China, it appears that Xiaomi has won the race with the Redmi Note 3, which accounted for 12.30% of the mobile market in the said region. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 was followed by the Samsung Galaxy S7 with 4.08%, the LeEco 2, and the Xiaomi 4C. Moving on to the United States, AnTuTu shows that, once again, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 took the lead, with 9.99% of the market. Oddly enough, it was followed by the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 which was originally released in October 2014, and Google’s own Nexus 6P which was built by Huawei.

Last but not least, it appears that Samsung hasn’t really made as much of an impact in India throughout the first half of 2016. Instead, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is leading the pack with 12.45% of the market under its belt, followed by the OnePlus 2 (7.70%), the LeEco 1S, and the original OnePlus One which was initially launched in June 2014, but arrived in India through Amazon a year later. Lenovo also seems to have made a bigger impact in India than anywhere else in the world, with the Lenovo K3 Note accommodating 3.12% of the market, and the Lenovo A7010 following in its footsteps with 2.60% of the market.
