Benchmark Shows Up For Unknown Xiaomi Altun Device

While much of the smartphone world sits back and waits for the next big thing from Samsung to appear, which is slated to pop up on August 2nd, other manufacturers shouldn’t be forgotten. Brands like Xiaomi for example are a smartphone company which are still very much in the spotlight, and two of their devices look to have shown up over at benchmarking website Geekbench. These are currently unknown devices as Xiaomi has yet to announce either of the two, but they do have code names listed with each set of benchmark stats, sitting under the names Xiaomi Altun and Xiaomi Capricorn, both of which surfaced on the website this month.

According to the Geekbench listings, the Xiaomi Capricorn was benchmarked back on July 5th although it was noticed just yesterday, while the Xiaomi Altun looks to have been benchmarked most recently as of today, although there are benchmarks for the device dating back to as early as May 4th. Considering that, if both of these devices end up making it to market, it would seem likely that the Xiaomi Altun would be released first as it’s seemingly been going through benchmark tests for a longer period of time. Then again, neither device may end up making it to market and nothing of course, is certain until otherwise stated by Xiaomi themselves.

According to the benchmark test, the Xiaomi Capricorn is running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow so the software is up to date, and it would likely carry Xiaomi’s latest version of the MIUI ROM on top of it. It’s listed as being powered by a 2GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor although it wasn’t mentioned which one. It also looks to come with 3GB of RAM, and is rumored to potentially be the Xiaomi Mi Note 2. When it comes to the Xiaomi Altun, this device is listed as running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and instead of coming with 3GB of RAM it looks like it could end up being bumped down to 2GB, suggesting that this would be the more entry-level of the two phones. It’s also listed as being powered by a 1.4GHz ARMv8 processor with 8 cores. As per usual with these benchmarks there is unfortunately no detail on internal storage, battery, camera, or other hardware specifications.
