The OnePlus 3 began receiving a rather hefty 396 MB Oxygen OS 3.2 update earlier this month that was supposed to bring better memory management, superior GPS performance, enhanced audio quality and improved camera software along with a whole lot of minor bug fixes that promised to rectify some issues with various default Oxygen OS apps preloaded on the device. While the update also included the latest Google security patches, one of the main new features was supposed to be the addition of the sRGB mode under ‘Developer Options’. It’s something the company had promised its users earlier, after having been subjected to criticism about the phone rendering over-saturated colors on its AMOLED display panel.
However, in an unexpected twist, the update was pulled within just hours of it going live although the company remained ambiguous about the exact reasons for halting the process. Thankfully, though, the update has since rolled out to the OnePlus 3, so users can now rest easy with the knowledge that they have the latest security patches from Google at a time when security researchers are issuing warnings about new malware almost on a regular basis. While installing the latest update also allows OnePlus 3 users to take advantage of all the new tweaks, fixes and enhancements the new software comes with, users unhappy with the color rendition on their phones can now dial back their color settings to a more natural and balanced hue expected from the sRGB standard.
In case you own a OnePlus 3 and are wondering how to get the sRGB mode activated on your device, here’s how you do it. Firstly, of course, you’ll have to enable ‘Developer Options’ on your handset. You do that by going over to ‘Settings’ and tapping on ‘About Phone’. You’ll then need to scroll down to select ‘Software Information’ and then tapping multiple times on ‘Build Number’ should enable the option, with the message “You’re now a developer”. Once enabled, you’ll see ‘Developer Options’ as one of the items listed under ‘Settings’. To turn on sRGB mode, what you now need to do is pretty simple. Go into the ‘Developer Options’ menu, scroll down till you find ‘Picture Color Mode’ and just slide the virtual toggle switch to turn on sRGB. You can always go back to disable it any time in case you prefer the richer, more vibrant hues that came as default on your OnePlus 3.
