With the new Nexus devices slated to be announced in the next few weeks, it’s not too surprising to see that there are more rumors and leaks coming out about the two devices – that are supposedly both being made by HTC. There have been a few press renders appear already, showcasing what the Sailfish may look like – which is the smaller Nexus device slated to come this year. Now there’s a new render surfacing that is of the larger, Marlin, Nexus smartphone. This is the model that is rumored to sport a 5.5-inch QHD display along with 4GB of RAM.
As you’ll see in the image above, the Marlin appears to look pretty close to the HTC 10. Which was HTC’s flagship smartphone for 2016. That’s not too surprising, as we’ve seen Google do this with other Nexus manufacturers before, like Samsung and LG. The main difference here is that the fingerprint sensor is on the back of the device, whereas the HTC 10’s is in the home button on the front of the device. You’ll also see on the back that there appears to be laser auto-focus included below the flash which is so to the right of the camera. Fortunately, it appears that the Marlin isn’t using the same window as the Sailfish is, which many think looks ugly.
Keep in mind that this is a render and not a press image. Which means it is essentially a mock up of what the device looks like. According to TechDroider, this is about 90% accurate as to what the device will look like. So there are still chances that the final product could look a bit different, although those chances aren’t all that high. As always, it’s encouraged to take everything here with a grain of salt until Google makes the announcement official, for both Sailfish and Marlin. Which shouldn’t be too far down the road, considering the final Android 7.0 Nougat Developer Preview has already been rolled out to everyone. And as you might expect, these new Nexus devices from HTC will be running the latest version of Android, Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box, as every Nexus device has in the past.
