With the Galaxy Note 7 set to debut next week in New York City, it’s no surprise to see that the rumor mill is working hard leading up to the Unpacked event. Now, according to a report out of Talk Android, it appears that the Galaxy Note 7 will have a slightly curved display. Something in the middle of a flat display and the curved display of the Galaxy S7 Edge. The report notes that Samsung has toned down the curves on the display, which is what Samsung believes their customers want. Speaking of the display, the report also notes that it’ll be sporting Gorilla Glass 5 on the front.
Backing up other rumors, leaks and claims, this report does also mention that the Galaxy Note 7 will sport a USB Type-C connector, and that the current Gear VR will not work with the Galaxy Note 7. Samsung is set to introduce a new model which will work with the Galaxy Note 7 as well as older flagship devices from the company. The battery capacity wasn’t mentioned, but it was mentioned that Samsung is adding a way to conserve even more battery life on the Galaxy Note 7. Which is making the display 720p, instead of QHD or 2K which is the standard resolution.
The Galaxy Note 7 will indeed be waterproof here. And what’s interesting is the fact that the device will be water-proof even when the S Pen is in use, which means the silo that the S Pen slides into will be water-proof. That’s a pretty big deal, but also something that needed to be done. The processor wasn’t mentioned in this report, but the Galaxy Note 7 will sport 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Despite other reports showing 6GB of RAM. Additionally, the cameras will be the same as what was on the Galaxy S7 family earlier this year. Including a 12-megapixel Dual Pixel camera on the back and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. Both cameras have received endless praise for how good they are.
As always, we’ll want to take this with a grain of salt, and nothing is confirmed until Samsung announces it. Which isn’t too far out, considering Unpacked is set to take place on August 2nd in New York City.
