There are many reasons to want to own an HTC Vive headset if you’re into technology. Aside from the library of games which are growing quite consistently it seems, there are handfuls of various other virtual reality experiences to take advantage of, so even if you’re not a gamer there are things to enjoy. Adult Swim just gave fans of its popular Rick and Morty animated series one more reason to consider buying the Vive for their own home – A Rick and Morty Simulator. Yes, fans of the show can plant themselves smack in the middle of Rick’s workshop in the garage and have all kinds of fun. The game is being developed by Owlchemy Labs which is the same development studio behind Job Simulator, and is described as a combination of Job Simulator and the team’s “favorite TV show,” which, displays that the team has passion about the series and is likely to have a lot of hard work put into making it something fans will enjoy.
Whether it’s fidgeting with the various gadgets and gizmos that Rick has engineered or simply fumbling around with the virtual Plumbus (if you’re curious to know what a Plumbus is, see the second video below this post) Rick and Morty Simulator: Virtual Rick-ality will let you have loads of fun pretending to be either of the crazy pair, with the ability to use Rick’s portal gun to hop through portals to different worlds or universes among other things. If you’re a fan of the show and you enjoy the outlandish jokes and comedy, this is a game you’ll have to at least experience even if you don’t own a Vive. It should also be noted that this is going to be a full game and not just a demo of sorts.
Having said that, picking up an HTC Vive isn’t cheap, nor is getting a VR-ready PC that can support the headset, let alone paying for the game which the company has yet to decide on a price for, so there is definitely bound to be some buy-in cost if you’re looking to get your hands on the game. This wouldn’t be the first game based on the Rick and Morty TV series as Adult Swim released Pocket Mortys earlier this year onto Android, which was a Pokemon style game in the Rick and Morty universe. Currently there is no planned release date for Rick and Morty Simulator: Virtual Rick-ality, but Adult Swim has mentioned that the game will make an appearance in its exclusive debut at San Diego Comic-Con this year. Attendees of the convention will be able to experience the game for themselves from July 21st through July 24th and get their first real taste of what it’s like to actually be Rick before the game launches, whenever that happens to be.
