Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S lineup has been the company’s “flagship” line of tablets for the past few years. With their Galaxy Tab A being “mid-range” and Galaxy Tab E being “low-end”. Now it appears that Samsung may be launching the third-generation of the Galaxy Tab S lineup on September 1st, that would be roughly a month after the Galaxy Note 7 is announced at Unpacked. Dubbed the Galaxy Tab S3, the tablet will likely feature high-end specs, along with a Super AMOLED display, like its predecessors. Specs have not appeared for the Galaxy Tab S3, but it’ll likely come in two screen sizes, both of which will have a 4:3 aspect ratio, which means a resolution of 2048×1536. At least that’s what the Galaxy Tab S2 featured last year. The tablet will likely pack a high-end Exynos processor, it may not be the Exynos 8890 or 8893, which is in the Galaxy S7 and supposedly coming to the Galaxy Note 7, however.
This news comes from Eldar Murtazin, who is a pretty famous journalist out of Russia. In the past, he has leaked out information about Samsung, especially in regards to when events are happening and when devices are being announced. So there’s good reason to take what he says here, seriously. While he may not have the track record of Evleaks, he’s still pretty solid when it comes to rumors here.
While there are some tablet users out there that would love to see Samsung release the Galaxy Tab S3, it’s actually more likely that they’ll release the Gear S3 around that time. As the Gear S and Gear S2 typically are announced around early-September at IFA in Berlin. Samsung won’t be the only one making announcements in Berlin on September 1st, as Huawei and a few other manufacturers have already made plans for press conferences. Samsung is one of the only manufacturers that are actually making money from tablets right now, so it would make sense that they would continue pushing out tablets, but then again, they haven’t actually released any new tablets so far this year – besides a slightly upgraded Galaxy Tab S2 and the Galaxy Tab Iris.
