Following up on Samsung’s recent revealing of the Galaxy J2 and the Galaxy J Max, Samsung has now officially revealed the Galaxy J1 Ace Neo, a device with a more palm-friendly screen size and a few different colors to entice those who like a little bit of variety. Of course, Samsung hasn’t released anything less than a few colors of most of their devices for a while so having more than one color option here shouldn’t be much of a shock. The phone is equipped with low-end specs and hardware which means it should end up being a rather affordable handset.
The Galaxy J1 Ace Neo was revealed on Samsung’s South Africa website, which could be the only region the device is meant for, but there are no details listing off where the phone will be launched outside of Cape Town and it isn’t available online, so at this point in time it could be just for the South African market. Samsung has fitted the Galaxy J1 Ace Neo with a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display with a WVGA resolution of 480 x 800. It’s powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core Spreadtrum SC8830 CPU which is paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It also supports up to 128GB of expandable storage via micro SD card if 8GB isn’t quite enough room.
The device is reportedly running on Android 5.1 Lollipop for the OS version, and it sports a 5MP camera on the back with an f/2.2 aperture and LED flash as well as a 2MP camera on the front for selfies and video chat. The phone is also powered by a 1,900 mAh battery which may not seem like a lot but considering the screen resolution and processor/RAM components, it just might be enough, especially considering that Samsung has integrated the Ultra Power Saving mode. The phone will come in three different colors including Black, White, and Blue. Although Samsung’s South Africa website does list that it can be purchased in a Samsung Experience store in Cape Town, they don’t list a price for the phone, so there is unfortunately no way of knowing what it costs just yet.
