Soft Gold OnePlus 3 Now Up For Purchase In The US

When the OnePlus 3 was launched earlier this year, it was available in just the one color – Graphite. The company, however, unveiled a Soft Gold version last month, which is now finally available for purchase in the U.S. as per an official announcement which was posted on the official OnePlus blog yesterday. The company had also pointed out yesterday itself that the that the golden hue on its flagship will not be the typical “gaudy gold”, but will be a more aesthetically pleasing color “for a light, elegant look”. Either way, the option is already listed on the company’s U.S.-specific site alongside the standard-issue Graphite option, and comes with the same exact price-tag of $399. Meaning, the latest color option won’t cost anything extra for buyers fancying the Soft Gold version of the latest flagship smartphone from the Chinese vendor.

It’s worth noting that the U.S. is the very first market to have received the new color, with Europe, Canada and Hong Kong slated to get the model on August 1. While OnePlus is yet to clarify its plans about launching the Soft Gold model in other regions around the world, one would expect the company to introduce the color in some other key markets going forward. Meanwhile, buyers in the U.S. and elsewhere looking to snap up the device in Soft Gold would do well do remember that the company has said that it will be making the Soft Gold OnePlus 3 models available in ‘limited quantities’, so stocks may not last very long if demand is on the higher side.

The OnePlus 3, for the uninitiated, is the third-generation flagship from the Shenzhen-based Chinese smartphone company, OnePlus. The device features a 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED 1080p display panel with Gorilla Glass 4 protection and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoC. The device integrates 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, and comes with LTE Cat.6 connectivity. Imaging options include a 16-megapixel primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus and optical image stabilization, whereas the front-facing selfie shooter comes with an f/2.0 aperture that apparently makes for high-quality photos in low-light conditions. The OnePlus 3 carries a 3,000 mAh battery with Dash Charging support and runs on Oxygen OS 3.2.2 based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
