The cat’s out of the bag now. Google has officially revealed the name for Android N as of yesterday, now known as Android Nougat, while also revealing that it is the 7.0 version of Android, as well as unveiling the statue that represents this version of the software which now sits firmly on the Google campus along with the others. For months, speculation arose about what Google could name Android N, with quite a few favorites like Nutella, Neapolitan, Napoleon, Neyyappam, Nectar, New York Cheesecake, and even Nougat, which is what Google ended up choosing. Now that Google has made things official, all that’s left is to wait for the fifth and final build of the developer preview, and then the public release of Android 7.0 Nougat.
While some feel just fine with Nougat as the choice, not everyone was happy with Google’s decision, with many, in fact, voicing opinion that Nutella should have been the clear winner. Although Google has changed the name of an Android version in the past, pivoting from Key Lime Pie to KitKat, it isn’t likely they’ll do the same thing this time around since the name has actually been announced. In any case, we’re still curious to know what you would have named Android N if the decision was yours and yours alone. Would you have gone with the popular opinion and announced it as Android 7.0 Nutella? Or would you have gone for something that was mentioned a little bit less? Perhaps something completely off the radar?
