Xiaomi is all over the news at the moment, for many reasons. The company is expected to introduce three new devices in the coming weeks, the Mi 5s, Mi Note 2 and Redmi Note 4. The first two handsets are high-end devices, as you probably already know, and the Redmi Note 4, which leaked recently, is the company’s budget offering. That’s not all though, the company’s exec recently said that Xiaomi plans to focus on higher-end devices moving forward, and that the pricing of such phones might be higher than usual, though he reassured us that the company won’t lose focus on budget devices either. Xiaomi is also looking to open up 1,000 retail stores in the next couple of years, which is definitely interesting.
That being said, the company’s co-founder, Liwan Jiang, had something else to say regarding Xiaomi’s future plans. In a recent interview, Mr. Jiang reaffirmed Xiaomi’s plans to introduce high-end devices in the second half of this year, He also said that one of those high-end devices (at the very least) will be cost-effective, and that it might be a completely new line of devices for the company. So, considering this is a completely new handset, it’s definitely not a part of the ‘Mi Note’ line, and possibly not even the rumored Mi 5s (considering it would be a part of the ‘Mi 5’ brand), is it possible that Xiaomi is looking to introduce yet another high-end phone in the second half of this year? Well, you never know, but unfortunately, we really don’t have any additional info when it comes to this smartphone.
That being said, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 and Mi 5s are certainly going to be interesting devices. The Mi Note 2 is the upcoming flagship phablet, it will probably sport a 5.7-inch display, and chances are Xiaomi will introduce several variants of this phone, the highest-end model is rumored to sport 6GB of RAM and a curved display on the sides. The Mi 5s, on the other hand, will, allegedly, ship with the dual camera setup on the back, and it might resemble the Mi 5, though judging by a recent leak, its design will differ, for sure. Both of these handsets will ship with pressure sensitive displays it seems, and it remains to be seen how much will they cost in the end.
