1.75 Million Redmi Note 3 Units Sold In India Since March

Despite the fact Xiaomi has not been selling as many devices as Huawei, Vivo or OPPO in China lately, this company is still at the very top of the smartphone market in its homeland. Xiaomi has been selling quite a few Redmi devices lately, and they’ve been active in India for quite some time now. Indian smartphone market might not be Xiaomi’s main market, but considering the sheer sales potential in India, many companies have been pushing their devices there, India is, after all, the second largest smartphone market in the world.

That being said, it seems like Xiaomi had managed to sell quite a few Redmi Note 3 devices in India since they launched it in the country, at least according to IDC. This China-based company managed to sell 1.75 million Redmi Note 3 units in only five months, which represents quite a significant success for the company. “Redmi Note 3 is the single highest-shipped smartphone ever in the history of India’s online market in any given quarter,” said IDC. The company had managed to sell 880,000 Redmi Note 3 units through online channels in the second quarter of the year, almost twice more than the second-placed smartphone. Xiaomi has been active in India since July 2014, and the company has a growth rate of 72% YoY (Year-on-Year) in India (July 2014 to July 2016).

The Redmi Note 3 is the company’s mid-range offering. This smartphone was introduced back in January, and it arrived to India in March this year. This is a metal-clad smartphone which packs really solid specs while it manages to keep its price quite low both in China and India. The Redmi Note 3 features a 5.5-inch fullHD display, 2GB / 3GB of RAM and it is fueled by the Snapdragon 650 64-bit hexa-core processor. The 16-megapixel camera is placed on the back of the device, and a hefty 4,050mAh battery is also included in this package, and it is not removable. Android 5.1 Lollipop comes out of the box here, and MIUI 7 ships on top of it. The Redmi Note 3 is available in Dark Gray, Silver and Champagne Gold in India, and its 2GB and 3GB variants were launched with price tags of Rs. 9,999 ($148) and Rs. 11,999 ($178), respectively.
