Alcatel Idol 4 VR Bundle Now Available From Cricket Wireless

If you are in the market for a new smartphone, then one option that has taken its time in arriving in the US is now finally available to buy. This is the Alcatel Idol 4 which was officially unveiled all the way back in February and during MWC 2016 in Barcelona. Along with the slightly more higher-spec Alcatel Idol 4S.

In spite of being unveiled in the opening months of 2016 and taking until now to become available in the US, it has now arrived by way of Cricket Wireless as an exclusive. Last month Cricket had confirmed that the Alcatel Idol 4 would be arriving on their network from August 5 and with that date now here, if you are a Cricket customer (or are considering making the switch) then this might be a device worth checking out. Especially as it is currently available to buy outright for only $199.99. Besides the fairly affordable price, this is also a smartphone which looks to take advantage of the VR revolution and does come packaged as a virtual reality (VR) bundle, which means it includes a pair of free VR goggles. Add in the fact that it also makes use of dual 3.6-watt multi-directional speakers, and this becomes a very affordable all-in-one solution for those looking to get more involved with virtual reality. While the Alcatel Idol 4 was announced in a number of color options, at present Cricket is only offering the Metallic Silver colored model.

If you need a recap on what is on offer for the $199.99 price, the Alcatel Idol 4 comes packing a 5.2-inch display which makes use of a 1920 x 1080 resolution. Inside, this is a smartphone which comes loaded with 16GB storage and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor, along with an Adreno 405 GPU. Cricket has not yet declared what the RAM is on their variant (as there was a 2GB and a 3GB RAM model announced) although it is presumed this will be the former 2GB model. There is a 13-megapixel camera on the back and an 8-megapixel camera on the front. While additional features include microSD support (up to 512GB), a 2,610 mAh battery and Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) out of the box.
