The Xiaomi Mi 5 is the company’s current flagship smartphone. This handset was introduced during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) back in February, and it is now available in a number of countries, though you’ll need to get it through unofficial channels in both Europe and the US considering Xiaomi is still not selling their smartphones in those regions. In any case, the Mi 5 is the company’s flagship smartphone, but Xiaomi is still expected to introduce their flagship phablet, the Mi Note 2 soon. This device is long overdue at this point considering the fact that its predecessors launched back in January 2015.
The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 has been leaking all over the place for a while now, and is rumored to launch during Xiaomi’s press event on August 25th, though nothing has been confirmed just yet. Anyhow, a new Mi Note 2 leak surfaced on Weibo, courtesy of @KJuma. The source leaked an alleged image of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 which shows off the design of the device, along with its specifications. Now, as you can see, this leak differs from the recently leaked renders of the device, and it actually looks (maybe even too) similar to the Galaxy S7 Edge here. The leak that surfaced about a week ago showed off a boxier design of the Mi Note 2, and quite frankly that design looked a bit more unique than what we see here. In any case, the Mi Note 2 is expected to ship with a physical home button, just like the Mi 5, and the phone will almost certainly sport two cameras on the back, at least the variant with a curved display (highest-end model). Do keep in mind that the Mi Note 2 is rumored to arrive in more than one variant, and a model with a curved display is also expected to become available.
Anyhow, as you can see, this image also shared Mi Note 2’s partial specs with us. If the info is to be believed, the Mi Note 2 will ship with a 5.5-inch OLED display, and both the 1080p and QHD variants are rumored. The curved model you can see here is expected to ship with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, while Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core SoC is expected to fuel this smartphone. The highest-end variant of the Mi Note 2 is expected to cost 3,499 Yuan ($526), based on previous info at the very least.
