ARCHOS is a French electronics company which tends to introduce new smartphones from time to time. This company had introduced two new smartphones a couple of days ago, the ARCHOS 50f Helium and ARCHOS 55 Helium. These two devices are ARCHOS’ entry-level offerings, and if you’d like to know more about them, follow this link. That being said, the company is now back with yet another smartphone which they’ve decided not to introduce along with the two aforementioned devices, probably because this is a somewhat more powerful handset, read on.
ARCHOS has just introduced the 55 Diamond Selfie smartphone which is made out of metal and glass. This smartphone sports on-screen keys, and its speaker is located on the bottom of the phone’s body. The device sports a 5.5-inch fullHD IPS display with Dragontrail glass on top of it in order to protect it, that very same Dragontrail glass is placed on the back of the device as well. The ARCHOS 55 Diamond Selfie comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage. The 16-megapixel camera is placed on the back of the device along with the LED flash, while there’s an 8-megapixel snapper available up front. The 3,000mAh battery (+quick charging) is also a part of this package, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the ARCHOS 55 Diamond Selfie. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 430 64-bit octa-core SoC running at 1.4Ghz, along with the Adreno 505 GPU. The 55 Diamond Selfie measures 155 x 76.6 x 7.7mm, while it weighs 184 grams. There are two SIM card slots available here (1 normal SIM + 1 Micro SIM), and the device also offers 4G LTE connectivity (800 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600 MHz).
Now, if you take a look at the back of this smartphone, you’ll notice there’s a fingerprint scanner available there, which is always a nice addition. The company did mention that the ARCHOS 55 Diamond Selfie can be used with VR glasses, and that the phone will be shown off during IFA in Berlin, so you can check it out in case you’re attending. ARCHOS said that the 55 Diamond Selfie will be available for purchase from the company’s website and distribution channels starting next month, and the phone will cost €229 in most of Europe, except in Italy where you’ll be able to get it for €249, and in the UK where it will cost £199,90. Now, the company has also listed a $199,00 price for the US. On top of all this, ARCHOS has also said that a Lite variant of this smartphone will arrive in October, it will sport 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, and it will cost €199,90 and €209,99 in Europe and Italy, respectively. The Lite variant of the device will be priced at £169,90 in the UK, and $169,90 in the US.
