IFA is just around the corner and ASUS has just hinted that it will have a huge reveal for the convention, tweeting out an image with a listed date of August 31st, accompanied by a message that says “incredible is coming.” While this isn’t terribly descriptive it isn’t difficult to imagine just what ASUS may have up their sleeves for the event, as there have been a number of rumors swirling around the ZenWatch 3 lately, so it’s entirely possible that their latest Android Wear smartwatch is going to be the star of the show.
While the image in ASUS’ tweet reveals nothing, it could be argued that the circular shape of the planet is meant to represent the new circular design of the ZenWatch 3 display which has been rumored to have switched from a square shape to a round design this year, as suggested first by an FCC filing, followed by leaked images of what are believed to be the ZenWatch 3. Then again it could just be a simple stock image that ASUS chose due to its ability to represent something incredible. If ASUS does reveal the ZenWatch 3 at IFA, they won’t be the only company to announce a new smartwatch this Fall as Samsung has teased the announcement for the Gear S3 in their official press invites for IFA.
If both companies announce new smartwatches, it begs the question of whether or not they will be the only two brands announcing such a device. Other large and well-known manufacturers will be at the show as well, such as Sony, who could be due for a new watch as they haven’t had anything since the release of the Smartwatch 3. In addition to a possible ZenWatch 3 reveal, some are already speculating that ASUS will have more phones or tablets to show off, and there’s nothing to suggest that this isn’t a possibility. They could have multiple devices to reveal on August 31st spanning across a range of different product categories, although with the ZenFone 3 having already been released, it’s less likely that any phones they may reveal would end up being flagships of any sort.
