With the amazing popularity of Pokemon GO, it seems that today, everyone is on a quest to “catch ‘em all”. But what do you do with these elusive Pokemon once you capture them? If you live in Sydney, one option is to eat them. Down N’ Out, a restaurant in Sydney, Australia that specializes in burgers, has created three types of limited edition “Pokeburgers”, or burgers based on Pokemon.
While Pokemon GO has 142 Pokemon to catch, there are only three different types of Pokeburgers, so eating them all should prove to be significantly easier. First up is perhaps the most well-known Pokemon, Pikachu. The yellow Pikachu burger comes with topped with Tiger Fries (cheese covered fries), onions, and Thousand Island spread, and has pointy ears made of Doritos. The Bulbasaur burger, as one may expect from a grass type Pokemon, is green and covered in veggies. Ben Kagan, the creative director of Hashtag burgers, the group responsible for Down ‘N Out, compares the flavor of the Bulbasaur burger to that of a Big Mac from MacDonald’s, with similar ingredients such as lettuce and pickles. And finally, the orange Charmander burger, similar to its Pokemon counterpart, brings the heat with a spicy flavor and orange lava cheese. All Pokeburgers are designed to look as close as possible to the Pokemon they represent, right down to the face, and the team has done a great job in this area, as you can see from the photos below. The Pokeburgers, like rare Pokemon, are quite difficult to catch. There are a limited number of Pokeburgers made every day, available only after 5:00 PM and there is a limit of one per customer.
This is not the first example of Pokemon fans making fun creations based on Pokemon, but it is perhaps the most delicious. These Pokeburgers cost $15, and customers do not get to specify which type of Pokeburger they want; the burgers are randomized, and you may have to try a few times to catch ‘em all. They are only available at the Down N’ Out restaurant at Sir John Young Hotel on the corner of Liverpool St. and George St. Pokeburgers are here for a limited time only; after September 3, 2016, they will no longer be available, so catch them while you can.
