The Google Play Developer Console app is an app that many of us don’t use or even need to use. It’s an app that is geared towards developers, allowing them to keep an eye on their apps and games that are in the Google Play Store, without needing to run to their desktop to check out the Google Play Developer Console website to see what’s going on. The app itself is still fairly new, having launched in May. This is the first big update since its launch, and it brings in a ton of huge features to the app.
Probably the most popular feature, at least to those that despise staged rollouts, is the fact that developers can now control these staged roll outs. And determine what percentage of their user-base will get the update. This is part of the A/B testing that has already been available in the console, but just came to the app in this update. Developers often times, will make small changes to their apps, and see if users like the changes or not. Now with this update, developers can see the results of this testing, along with rolling out the update in stages.
Then there’s reviews. Developers are always encouraging users to leave reviews on their app on the Google Play Store. This is important because many users will read the reviews before downloading an app. It also helps alert the developer to any bugs, as well as features that need to be added or maybe changed. Now with the update to the Google Play Developer Console app, you can choose to get notifications when new reviews go live on the Google Play Store for your apps. There are also review filters available, so you can filter out reviews based on language, app version and much more.
The update to the Google Play Developer Console is already available on the Google Play Store. But of course, if you don’t want to wait for the update to hit your device, we do have the APK available for sideloading.
