EA Sports Announces FIFA Mobile At Gamescom 2016

As any gaming enthusiast would let you know, Gamescom is underway in Cologne, Germany, and numerous developers are attending the event in order to showcase their latest creations. Needless to say, EA is one of these developers present on the show floor, and yesterday the company took this opportunity to announce its latest installment in the FIFA series for mobile, called FIFA Mobile.

Gamescom 2016 was the place where EA Sports took the veil off FIFA 17, which will be released in September 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the previous generation of consoles. But the announcements didn’t stop there and EA Sports has also announced FIFA Mobile for mobile users. The game will introduce an “Attack Mode” which implements turned-based gameplay, with players taking turns on who’s playing on offence. In addition, FIFA Mobile will benefit from live content updates, inviting players to play a variety of mini-games created in accordance with real-world events. Other details worth mentioning include inter-league play, online leagues with leaderboards, and of course, FIFA Ultimate Team will also be available in the game. FIFA Ultimate Team (or FUT on short) has been a part of several FIFA games since the release of FIFA 10. In principle, this game mode allows players to create their own team with players and staff from the real world, and they can use the team to compete in various tournaments and divisions. EA Sports didn’t reveal too many details about the Ultimate Team mode for FIFA Mobile, but the official page claims that “A new approach to building your squad […] offers a simplified method to boost your players and gives you a better experience to manage who is on the pitch”. Last but not least, as is the case with other FIFA games from EA Sports, FIFA Mobile will make use of its license and will offer more than 30 leagues, 650 teams, and 17,000 players, making the game “the most authentic football experience available on-the-go” according to the developer.

At the moment, details regarding pricing are missing, but shouldn’t remain unknown for long. FIFA Mobile is poised for a worldwide market release this fall, and it’s likely that additional details will be revealed as we approach the mobile game’s market debut.
