Samsung’s latest flagship phablet, the Galaxy Note 7, was finally announced officially on the 2nd of this month at an event in New York City after weeks of rumors, leaks and speculations. While the major U.S. carriers started taking pre-orders from the very next day, would-be buyers in most other countries had to hold out just a bit longer, with Germany being a case in point. Samsung had originally announced that it would start shipping pre-orders in the country from the 30th of this month, although, it now seems that early birds have already started getting their Galaxy Note 7 units by mail about a week or so ahead of schedule.
According to reports published in the German tech media, many people in the country have started receiving their brand new Samsung phablets over the past few days. Interestingly, just about everybody who’ve received their handsets had pre-ordered the base 64GB model in Black Onyx. Reports also indicate that they had also selected the Gear VR headset as their free gift. So if all of that is anything to go by, people in Germany who pre-ordered the 64GB Black Onyx Galaxy Note 7 model but is yet to receive their handset, should expect it to arrive sooner rather than later. The device is apparently being shipped out directly from the South Korean firm’s warehouse in neighboring Netherlands, so it shouldn’t take too long to reach their intended destinations in Germany either.
Meanwhile, major carriers in the U.S. also have a habit of shipping pre-orders ahead of schedule. Earlier this month, Verizon and T-Mobile customers in the country reported that they had started receiving their pre-ordered Note 7 units even before the device had officially gone on sale in the country. Since that time, though, the device has actually gone up for sale in the U.S. and by all accounts, has been received well by consumers. One point to note here is that while the Galaxy Note 7 models available around the world come with an almost identical feature set, the device being sold internationally is a tad different under the hood than the American and Chinese versions. While the U.S. model (SM-G930) ships with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, the European variants (SM-G930F) are powered by the Exynos 8890.
