Google Duo Hits 5 Million Downloads In Just One Week

Google’s software offerings have been filling the headlines in the last week or so. The company had first released their Duo video calling application, and a couple of days ago they’ve started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat to the existing Nexus devices. The Google Duo app was released last week, and it quickly managed to find its way to the most popular apps list in the Google Play Store. Well, this app seems to be so popular, that it has just managed to hit a major milestone, read on.

The Google Duo app has been downloaded over 5 million times in just one week. This information has been released on Twitter by Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google. Now, as some of you probably remember, this application was first introduced during Google I/O earlier this year, and even though Google did not say when exactly will it launch, the app has been released a week ago. These are some major numbers for Google Duo, and it will be interesting to see how long will it take for Google Allo to reach that many downloads once Google opts to release it.

Now, for those of you who are not all that informed, both the Google Duo and Allo apps have been introduced during Google I/O. The Google Duo is a video chatting app, while Google Allo is its messaging counterpart which will offer Google Assistant integration. As already mentioned, the Google Allo app is still not out, but it should be soon, even though Google did not confirm when will they launch it.

Having that in mind, you may notice that these two apps seem similar to Google’s Hangouts app, and many people thought that Hangouts will be shut down once Duo and Allo get released. Well, that won’t be the case, Google had confirmed recently that Hangouts isn’t going anywhere, but that it will be focused on enterprise, rather than regular consumer use. So, there you have it, Google Duo is immensely popular it seems, and chances are Google Allo will be as well, especially considering the extensive feature list that it will sport, we’ve seen various leaks lately, and Google had already confirmed some compelling features. Stay tuned, we’ll let you know the moment we get more info regarding Google Allo.
