Honor Unveils Two New Devices, Honor 5 And Honor Note 8

Honor is Huawei’s subsidy, as most of you know. This company had introduced a number of compelling devices in the last couple of years, including the Honor 5X and Honor 8 which were announced earlier this year. That being said, the Honor Note 8 was rumored quite a few times thus far, and the company has finally introduced this smartphone in China, along with yet another mid-ranger we’ll talk about in this article, read on.

To be more specific, Honor has just introduced the Honor 5 and Honor Note 8 smartphones. Let’s kick things off with the Honor 5, shall we. This smartphone comes with a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display, along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of native storage (expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card). This handset is fueled by MediaTek’s MT6735P 64-bit quad-core processor, along with the Mali-T720 GPU. The phone features an 8-megapixel shooter on the back, and a 2-megapixel snapper up front, while you’ll be able to find a 2,200mAh battery on the inside. Android 5.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed on the Honor 5, and you also get two SIM card slots here, in case you need such functionality. The phone measures 143.8 x 72. X 8.9mm, while it weighs 138 grams.

The Honor Note 8, on the other hand, is the company’s new phablet. This device is quite huge, it sports a 6.6-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) 2.5D curved display, along with 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB / 128GB of expandable internal storage. The phone is fueled by the Kirin 955 64-bit octa-core processor, along with the Mali T880-MP4 GPU. The device comes with a 13-megapixel OIS shooter (f/2.0 aperture) on the back, and an 8-megapixel front-facing snapper. The fingerprint scanner is placed on the back of the Honor Note 8, and you also get 4G LTE connectivity here, with VoLTE. The 4,500mAh battery is also included here, and it offers fast charging. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the Honor Note 8, so this device basically comes with a newer version of Android compared to the Honor 5. Both of these devices will ship with Huawei’s Emotion UI on top of Android though, so keep that in mind. The Honor Note 8 measures 178.8 x 90.9 x 7.18mm, while it weighs 219 grams.

The Honor 5 comes in White, Black and Gold color variants, while it costs 599 Yuan ($90). The device will become available for purchase on August 2nd in China. Its larger sibling, the Honor Note 8, will be available in Gray, Silver and Gold color variants, and it has multiple price points considering more than one variant will be available. The 32GB storage model will cost 2,299 Yuan ($346), the 64GB storage variant will set you back 2,499 Yuan ($376), while the most expensive 128GB storage model will cost 2,799 Yuan ($420). This phablet will become available for pre-order starting today from vMall and JD.com, while it will go on sale on August 9th.
