Lenovo to Showcase Tablets, Moto Mods & More at IFA 2016

At Lenovo Tech World back in June, the company announced a slew of new products. Of course, the ones that everyone in the West were most excited about were the new Moto Z and Moto Z Force – which are now available exclusively at Verizon. With these two smartphones, Lenovo also announced Moto Mods, which are modules that you can attach to the back of either phone and extend the functionality of the phone. Currently, there are just three Moto Mods available. One is an extended battery pack, another is a speaker from JBL and then the Pico Projector. But according to a teaser that Lenovo posted today, it looks like there are some more Moto Mods in store for us at IFA 2016 in September.

The teaser also talks about a “new chapter in tablets”. Now it’s tough to say what that actually means, but Moto (formerly Motorola) hasn’t released a tablet in years. Lenovo, however, has continued releasing tablets. Both running Android and Windows. So we may be looking at some new tablets running on Windows 10 instead of Android. They are also teasing products that “blur the line”, which shows a 2-in-1 tablet. So there’s a big possibility that Lenovo will have some 2-in-1’s shown at IFA in about a month’s time. Remember that Lenovo does offer a slew of products already, and not all of them run Android. So just because they are teasing tablets and 2-in-1’s doesn’t mean that they are definitely running Android.

Lenovo is also teasing a new Moto 360 smartwatch coming at the event. Now this wouldn’t be a huge surprise, given the fact that they launched the original Moto 360 at an event in Chicago in 2014 in September (during IFA 2014), then Lenovo launched the second-generation Moto 360 at IFA last year. So it would make sense that the third-generation comes at IFA 2016. Once more, it seems that IFA is going to be a big place for Android Wear watches to be unveiled. After all, we haven’t seen many announced in 2016, and with Android Wear 2.0 coming this fall, it would make perfect sense for Google and their partners to wait and unveil their new watches in the fall.
