LG V20 is Coming to Canada in Q3 with Android Nougat

LG announced earlier this week that their successor to the LG V10 would be the first smartphone available running on Android 7.0 Nougat. Which is the next version of Android, and is widely expected to be released at some point this month. Now it’s looking like LG will be bringing that device over to Canada as well, in the third quarter (which ends on September 30th, for those wanting a time-frame). There’s nothing else known about the new device coming from LG, other than the fact that it will indeed be running on Android 7.0 Nougat, which is enough to get many LG fans excited, ahead of its release.

This announcement is still a bit interesting. Considering the Nexus hardware that Google works on with a variety of partners, is typically first to come out with the latest version of Android. The latest rumors have been hinting at the fact that the next-generation of Nexus hardware isn’t due to be unveiled until October 4th. Which would be a good two months after Nougat is supposedly being released as a stable build. So it is definitely possible that the LG V20 could be the first smartphone released running on Android 7.0 Nougat. It would definitely be unprecedented, and something that would hopefully help LG sell a few more smartphones.

The fact that the LG V20 will be first with Android 7.0 Nougat isn’t particularly news. But the fact that it is coming to Canada, is indeed news. Seeing as the LG V10 did not come to Canada last year. In fact, it was a US and South Korea only launch. Which was a bit of a shame given how good of a smartphone the LG V10 really was. Many preferred it over the LG G4 that was launched earlier that year, and that may very well be the case again this year for LG. The LG V20 is expected to sport dual displays and dual front-facing cameras once again. As far as what LG does with these displays and cameras, software-wise, is still up in the air. Last year, the second display was a “ticker” and the second camera was a wide-angle camera for selfies.
