New Google Photos Ad Showcases Backup & Search Functions

Capturing moments is now easier than ever, considering pretty much every smartphone has a decent camera. With the ever increasing number of photos, it’s not exactly easy to keep track of all of them, and make sure you don’t lose them while they’re stored on your device. This is where Google’s Photos app comes to play. Google Photos’ advertisement team has been on a roll producing ads to convince you that you need the service to be able to safely back-up as many photos as you want without worrying about storage. The team has pushed an advertisement which describes how even if you jump into a pool with your (non-waterproof) phone in your pocket, your pictures will be safe, because Google Photos has already backed them up safely. And they have done it again.

A new commercial from Google Photos’ team is named “Photos. For Life”. The ad is about 1 minutes and 44 seconds long, and it describes how quantity has taken over quality when it comes to photographs. It starts off with the depiction of your great-grandfather having only two photographs through his entire life – army, and wedding. Back then, cameras were expensive, and there was no digital medium of storage, so pictures were captured cautiously and only during important life achievements and what not. The video goes on to describe how our parents used to print and save photos into an album, and in the case of a disaster, could just grab that album and preserve their memories.

In our case, however, all pictures are stored on our phones. There’s always the chance of losing or damaging your phone and losing all the photos you captured in the process. If you are not really willing to transfer your photos manually elsewhere, chances are that you will be running into storage issues at some point. There is also a hassle of going through numerous photos to find that one particular screenshot or business card image. The aforementioned ad then demonstrates how using Google Photos would save you from all this trouble by safely backing up your photos for free, so that it doesn’t take up space on your phone, and you can take unlimited pictures without worrying about storage. The app also lets you search for any picture by describing the image and its content.
