Jide’s Remix OS build based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow has just been released for the HTC Nexus 9 and the Google Pixel C tablets, following Jide’s recent push of the Marshmallow-based build of the software for Remix OS for PC. While both of these tablets are now getting bumped up to the new version of the Remix OS software, they were only just recently updated to Remix OS 2.0 back in April, making for a fairly fast turnaround time on Jide’s part. Although Remix OS 2.0 may have had a short lifespan on the Pixel C and the Nexus 9 before a successor came along, the software is still available to run and owners are of course not required to upgrade, but doing so would introduce some notable improvements that are likely worth considering.
For those who haven’t flashed the Remix OS software to one of these listed tablets before, Jide provides a nice little tutorial on how to flash it to your device, and the process seems to be pretty straightforward so it should be simple enough for anyone who wants to give it a try. Having said that, it’s always a good idea to back up everything up you may not want to lose just in case things go wrong.
If you’re going to go ahead with the software installation, you can pick up the Marshmallow-based version of Remix OS from Jide’s website and get the process started. The download is in the form of a torrent, so whether you’re going to download it using your mobile device or your computer, make sure that you have a torrent app or program installed that will allow you to start the download. It’s also worth mentioning that the download weighs in at 618MB in file size, so it’s highly recommended that you download the software package while connected to a Wi-Fi network if downloading via mobile, and that you have a sizable amount of battery left in case the download takes longer than normal for any reason. Since Marshmallow was already available for both of these tablets natively with the regular version of Android, there won’t be any Marshmallow specific features introduced that users didn’t already have access to. It will however introduce the new changes that came to this version of Remix OS, like the ability to resize windows from any part of the window edge instead of just the corners.
