After months of waiting, rumors, and speculation, Samsung has finally announced its latest Galaxy Note 7 flagship phablet yesterday. The first Note 7 analysis suggest that the device is fantastic in most aspects and will be a great purchase for anyone looking to buy a high-end smartphone regardless of its price tag. Samsung has already released close to half a dozen of promo videos advertising its upcoming flagship, all of which are embedded below for convenient viewing.
As for the device itself, it’s 153.5 x 73.9 x 7.9mm in size and weighs only 169g. It boasts a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display featuring a resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels. Unlike the previous Note models, Galaxy Note 7 has a slightly curved screen, not unlike the Galaxy S7 Edge. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 820 or the Exynos 8890 system-on-chip, depending on the region. It features 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage with can be expanded by an additional 256GB via the SD card slot. Just like the Galaxy S7, Note 7 is equipped with a 12-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and optical image stabilization (OIS) which boasts an impressively wide aperture of f/1.7, as well as a 5-megapixel front camera with an identical aperture. The hardware is powered by a non-removable 3,500 mAh battery charged via USB Type-C port.
Regarding other upgrades, the device’s S Pen comes with IP68 certification, just like the phone itself, meaning it’s resistant to both dust particles and water. Furthermore, Samsung is promising that the new design is so resistant that we’ll easily be able to use the S Pen even when both it and Note 7 are wet. The new Note phablet now also comes equipped with an iris scanner for quick and reliable authentication that’s much harder to trick than a fingerprint scanner. While skeptics aren’t particularly thrilled with the fact Samsung’s latest flagship is packing only 4GB of RAM, the South Korean consumer electronics manufacturer is claiming Note 7 users will have a seamless experience and won’t have to worry about the amount of available random access memory. Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is hitting stores on August 19th and will be available in four colors: Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium, Blue Coral, and Black Onyx. Pricing details are yet to be announced.
