Samsung Now 2nd Most Reputable Tech Firm In The US

Samsung Electronics is one of the largest, if not the largest, technology companies in the world. Samsung itself is very diverse, producing lots of different kind of products, from top of the line smartphones, to producing semiconductor chips. However, Samsung is widely known for its mobile division and the smartphones which is produced by the company, especially its “Galaxy S” and “Galaxy Note” series. The company also happens to be the most trusted company for millennials in the US according to a survey done by the Reputation Institute a few months back. In a new survey by the Reputation Institute to determine the most reputable tech companies in the US, Samsung managed to nab second spot in the list. According to the Reputation Institute’s website, it is the world’s leading research and advisory firm for reputation.

According to the report posted by the Reputation Institute, Samsung managed to secure second place while online retail giant, Amazon grabbed the top spot. In third spot was Intel Corporation while VMWare was in fourth spot. Toshiba managed to nab fifth spot and was followed by other tech companies such as Oracle, Hewlett-Packard (HP), Alphabet, Microsoft and IBM which all made it into the top ten in the survey. This year, Samsung received good grades for its “Galaxy S” lineup which compromised of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. The South Korean firm was also given good grades by the Reputation Institute for its corporate social responsibility projects. While second spot might seem like a pretty good position considering the fact that there are many other huge tech firms and competition is high, it is actually a downgrade for Samsung. The company managed to top the list in last year’s survey which was also conducted by the Reputation Institute.

The survey which was recently conducted, measures a company’s ability to deliver on stakeholder expectations on seven key rational dimensions of reputation which consist of products and services, innovation, workplace, governance, citizenship, leadership and performance. However, what is surprising is that Silicon Valley tech giant, Apple is nowhere to be seen in the top ten list in the survey.
