Sponsored App Review: Mevo – Weight Loss & Fitness

As fitness is becoming more and more integrated with smartphones and wearables these days, it isn’t uncommon to see plenty of fitness apps available for your devices. Mevo – Weight Loss & Fitness is one of those apps and aims to help users become healthier and live a more active lifestyle. The app is comprehensive and offers up everything from diet tips to a collection of different exercises to help you target specific muscle groups, whether you’re trying to hit your back muscles, abs, arms and more. You can set up meal plans as well and there’s quite a list of  features if you’re looking to dive into everything it has to offer. With that said, let’s take a closer look at the app and what it provides.

Before you can get started with setting and achieving your fitness goals, you’ll need to head to the Play Store and install Mevo – Weight Loss & Fitness.

The first thing you might notice when you open up Mivo for the first time is the login screen. While you are not required to log in as you can use the app via the “guest” option, logging in will open up many of the app’s features, like the social feature, logging your water intake and diet etc. You can log in via Facebook or Google+, or by creating a Mevo account with your email.

Once you have logged in whether through an account or as a guest, the app sits on the Dashboard screen, which is where you’ll be able to log your food, see the steps tracker, and log other types of diet-based details through the “quick adds” card.

The app is fairly comprehensive, so if you want to focus on diet it will be able to help, but if your focus is on the exercise portion, there is a “workouts” tab that you can access which lets you select strength training for specific exercises, or strength training plans which offer more of a target approach to a specific muscle group as opposed to one particular muscle.

Just as you can focus more on the exercise part of the app, you can also focus on the diet as mentioned above, and there is a specific “food” tab dedicated to this with recipes, a meal plan, and suggestions for healthy eating choices.

In addition to the food tab, there will be a recipe of the day on the dashboard at the very bottom that you can check out. This could be a very useful feature if you’re someone who likes to plan their meals the day of. It’s complete with all of the information you would need such as the ingredients, the method and how to cook the recipe as well as the nutrition details.

Interestingly enough the app also has a blog with exercise and health/diet-related posts that are useful and definitely something to check out. These posts are perfect for the downtime moments like during the commute to and from work, or just at the end of the day.

Mevo also offers up social features, something which shouldn’t be too surprising as many apps do these days, and the social aspect in an app such as this can be a great motivator as it can be a little competitive. You can use the social tab to connect with other users and share your progress, play challenges to help lose weight, and take quizzes.

If you’re looking for a fitness app that offers both exercise and diet features, Mevo should suffice as it could be considered a great all-in-one offering with tons of useful features. Most of the features available appear to require the login, although as stated above it is not required to login to simply install the app and use some stuff. For example you can read the blog without logging in. You will need to be logged in to view any of the exercise related stuff, but it’s easy enough to log in with Facebook or Google+. The app will also sync data with apps like Fitbit, which is perfect if you have a Fitbit tracker that you use. It also syncs with Google Fit if you prefer that application.
