Sponsored App Review: Wifi Analyzer – Home WiFi Alert

Wifi Analyzer – Home Wifi Alert is exactly as the name suggests, an app which is designed to help you monitor your home wireless network and analyze the details of the network for various different reasons. It’s a comprehensive offering which can be used by the average person or even those who may work in the IT field. It offers up range of useful tools to help keep you informed about your network, what’s connected to it, and what sort of speeds your network is delivering. Whether you just want to maximize your speed or stay up to date on every little detail, this app should be able to get the job done for you. With that said, let’s take a closer look at everything that it offers.

Before you can actually get started with analyzing your network you’ll need to head to the Play Store and install Wifi Analyzer – Home Wifi Alert.

The first thing that you’ll notice upon opening the app is the home page. Here, you’ll see buttons for various tools and features that the app provides, including scan, which allows to scan for the networks nearby, as well as button for IP tools, an AP graph, and a button for finding out the strength of your wifi as well as AP scans and connections.

The scan button does just as it says and scans for the nearby networks, showing all of the devices that are also connected to your network at the time. It takes a minute to show everything if you have more devices connected to the network at once, but if you let it sit everything will populate on the list.

The AP graph in particular can be fairly useful for anyone that needs to know the strength of their network, and after clicking on it you can view the strength of both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks, if you have a 5GHz network setup.

In the overflow menu you can find a small set of options including the app settings, cell data, an about section and a help section. Here you can also find an integrated speed test feature, which allows you to check the speed of your network. I found this to be pretty useful as I didn’t have to back out to use a different app for checking my network speed or visit a website.

Naturally and as one might expect with an app like this, it allows you to see particular details like the MAC addresses, IP addresses, the manufacturer names of the connected devices and more.

If you’re particularly interested in getting the best speeds possible on your network, the app will also display surrounding networks and the channels that they’re sending out signals on. For example, it will show you how many of the surrounding networks that may be operating on the same channel as your network, allowing you to choose the best channel to allow for better speeds. The app also offers a block feature, which could come in handy if you want to stop a certain device from connecting to your network. If you have a particularly strong network password this may not be an issue for you but it’s a good feature to have nonetheless.

While these kinds of tools and features may not be of use to everyone, if you’re serious about the best possible connection speeds on your network and you want to be in control of it, a Wifi Analyzer tool is certainly something worth considering, and Wifi Analyzer – Home Wifi Alert gets the job done and then some, with plenty of robust features. The app also offers up 24 hour support if you need help with one of the tools or if something isn’t working right. Wifi Analyzer is a free app to install, and it does have ads, but there is also a Pro version available for $0.99. The only difference here is the removal of ads in the app, so if you like the tools it provides but want to get rid of the ads, the Pro version will be able to deliver.

Ratings

  • Theme (4/5) – The app UI is simple and clean with no flashy design. It looks good but doesn’t overdo anything.
  • Features (5/5) – There is a lot on offer here, and anyone who wants to be more in control of their home Wifi network will benefit.
  • Overall (4.5/5) – Lots to love about this app as it does exactly what it sets out to do.

Pros

  • Loads of features
  • Block tool
  • Speed Test feature
  • Simplistic UI

Cons

  • I had a common issue with the app crashing on me whenever I tried to do a scan. This likely won’t be the case for all users, and it didn’t happen to me every time I hit the scan button.

Wifi Analyzer – Home Wifi Alert has a lot to offer anyone that wants to have better control of their home Wifi network. It’s useful in more than just a few ways and if you’re in need of a way to help you get the best possible speeds for your connected devices, this tool can help through showing you which channels are the best channels to switch your connection to. I found the speed test feature to personally be very useful as well as I tend to often check to see how my connection speeds are doing, and this allowed me to do so without needing another app or website to do the same job. There are a few things in the app I will never utilize, but that’s ok as they’re still going to come in handy for plenty of other users, and the app does offer up information that is good to have on hand. If you have a wireless network set up at home, this is definitely worth looking into and giving a shot.
