Uber is one of those companies which quite often seems to find itself in the news limelight for various reasons. The last month alone has seen reports coming through on a reported $1.27 billion loss for 2016 and how they reportedly refused to pay $2 billion for Lyft. Then there are the Uber news cycles which frequently come through detailing the new features and expansion that the company is currently working on, like the recently reported on move away from fluctuating prices by introducing limited testing of a flat rate pricing structure.
Today is the next product/service news update as Uber has today announced a new program where users can essentially gain free rides by dining out or shopping. The way it works is that Uber has teamed up with Visa for this new service and this does mean that you need to have (and use) a Visa card to be eligible. Users will also need to register the Visa card with the Uber app and then for every $1 spent at participating eateries and shops using the Visa card, the user will gain an Uber point. Once the Uber point tally reaches 100 points, the user gains a free ride – or at least $10 off their next Uber ride. Basically, for every $100 spent using the Uber-linked Visa card, the user will gain a $10 Uber discount.
According to the details the new ‘ride and dine’ features is now available in the Uber app can be found under ‘Local Offers’ in the app’s menu. Needless to say, you will need to be using the very latest version of the app to be able to see the new feature listed. It is also worth pointing out that this feature is only currently being trialed in San Francisco and Los Angeles, although it is expected to see further rolling out to other cities and areas in due course. You can find out more about the promotion by heading through the source link below and over to the Uber blog post announcing the new feature. Or of course, check out the new promotional video from Visa which stars Kaley Cuoco and highlights how the new feature works.
