A new set of renders has leaked for an upcoming Sony Xperia smartphone, which appear to be of the previously leaked device referred to at the time as model number F8331. Although Sony’s focus this year has been stated by the company to be on the Xperia X series, that doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t have other devices in the works and on track for a launch perhaps later this year. While there is no telling when Sony is going to launch this new phone, the speculation points to a possible unveiling at the upcoming IFA convention that happens in September every year, with a potential launch of the device soon after.
According to these new leaked renders, the device is going to potentially go by the name of the Xperia XR, which would put in the Xperia X series of devices alongside the already released Xperia XA, Xperia XA Ultra, Xperia X, and Xperia X Performance smartphones, all of which recently went on sale over the past couple of months. Just like in the previous leaks of the actual device, the renders carry the same defining characteristics such as the placement and style of the rear camera sensor and flash setup, as well as the USB Type-C port on the bottom device. What isn’t known is whether or not Sony will be making the move to USB C for all of their devices in the future or only some of them.
There were no specifications leaked alongside these renders, but since the renders appear to be of the F8331 phone that leaked back in July, the specs would be the same as the one listed in that previous leak, which were rumored to be 3GB of RAM, a Full HD screen that is either 5.1-inches or 5.3-inches, a 23MP rear camera and a 13MP front camera, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor powering the device which would come paired with an Adreno 530 GPU for the graphics processing. Although no specifications were listed along with these leaked renders to add weight to previous rumors, the measurements of the device were mentioned, suggested to be around 146.4 x 71.9 x 8.1mm.
