Verizon Opening Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Pre-Orders on Aug. 3rd

Today, Samsung announced the latest in their very successful Galaxy Note lineup. That is the Galaxy Note 7. Indeed, they have skipped over the Galaxy Note 6 and jumped straight to the Galaxy Note 7. Samsung didn’t give an explanation as to why, but many believe that this is to bring the Galaxy Note and Galaxy S lines closer together. The Galaxy Note 7 is coming to all four US carriers, as you would expect, since every Galaxy Note since the Galaxy Note 2 has also been available on all four wireless carriers. Verizon, however, has just announced that pre-orders will begin on August 3rd (Tomorrow!) and the devices will begin shipping on August 19th.

Spec-wise, the Galaxy Note 7 is sporting some pretty beefy specs. While many were hoping that Samsung would put 6GB of RAM into the Galaxy Note 7, it appears that is not happening. As the company announced at Unpacked today, the Galaxy Note 7 has 4GB of RAM. As well as a Snapdragon 820 processor and 64GB of storage. There is a micro SD card slot included, but there won’t be any other storage variants available for the Galaxy Note 7. Additionally, it’s sporting a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display and is protected by the newly announced Corning Gorilla Glass 5. All of this is being powered by a 3500mAh battery, which is non-removable, and slightly smaller than the Galaxy S7 Edge’s battery – which has a smaller display.

Currently there’s no word on pricing for Verizon’s variant of the Galaxy Note 7, but we do expect it to be priced around $750-800, to coincide with the pricing found at the other US carriers. Verizon, of course, will allow you to pay full retail price for the Galaxy Note 7 or you can choose to purchase it on their installment plan, dubbed ‘Verizon Edge’ and pay for it over the next 24 months. Which is sometimes easier for many customers. Seeing as smartphones just continue to get more and more pricier. Verizon hasn’t yet mentioned when pre-orders will start, but they will likely be next week.

Update: Verizon has just announced pricing for the Galaxy Note 7. It’ll cost $36/month for 24 months on Verizon Edge. Or $864 at full retail.
