Honor is bringing their next flagship, the Honor 8 to the US, and it’s quite a stunning looking smartphone. It’s sporting a 5.2-inch display, powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 950 processor which is an octa-core SoC clocked at 2.3GHz, along with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. All of this is powered by a 3000mAh battery, in a rather slim frame. The device is made up of glass with a metal frame, as you’d expect, and it looks absolutely stunning. It’s going to be available for pre-orders tomorrow, August 17th, and will be available in Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue or Pearl White.
The Honor 8 has been in our hands for a good little while now, so we were able to put together a nice hands on video and first impressions of the device. While the device has been in our hands for just about 24 hours, we have been able to get some nice impressions of the device but not a full review, by any means. The Honor 8 feels really nice in the hand, of course part of that is due to the fact that it is a pretty small device, coming in at just 5.2-inches and the bezels aren’t overly large either. Although something that many people are going to dislike, is the fact that the Honor logo is on the front and the back of the device. Although, other than that, it’s a pretty clean smartphone.
On the back, there is that 12-megapixel dual-camera setup which uses two Sony IMX287 sensors. One is a monochrome sensor and the other is an RGB sensor. The setup is pretty similar to the one on the Huawei P9. The camera, in our short time with it, has performed pretty well. Even at night, the camera performed well using the “Night Mode”, but the darker it gets, the longer it’s going to take to actually capture the picture. Which means you have to hold still or your picture will be a bit blurry. There’s also that fingerprint sensor on the back, but this is more than a fingerprint sensor. It’s an actual button that can be used for a slew of things like turning on the flashlight, taking a screenshot or even opening an app.
The Honor 8 is jam-packed with features and we’ll be taking a deep dive into all of them in our full review coming up here pretty soon. So you’ll definitely want to stay tuned.
