Android 7.0 Nougat was officially pushed out to the public this week as Google began rolling out the software to compatible Nexus devices on Monday, and alongside the bevvy of smartphones which are now enjoying the latest and greatest Android software via an official release, manufacturers have started to list off their plans for which devices will receive the update and which ones won’t. While not all smartphones will be making the jump to Android 7.0 Nougat, the ones that will are going to be introduced to a handful of changes. There’s lots to love abut Nougat, not the least of which is the newly available multi-window feature which was discovered during the initial rollout of the Android N Developer Preview. Aside from Multi-Window though, other features certainly make it worth having the latest software.
Of course, one of the new additions to Android with the arrival of Android 7.0 Nougat is the plethora of new emoji that were introduced with this software release, which includes a total of 72 new emoji to insert into your texts, your tweets, your Facebook posts and more. Google also added support for the Vulkan API for better support of games and high-end graphics, and a brand-new VR mode which will make use of the Daydream VR hardware and software once they launch. One also shouldn’t forget the new and improved Doze Mode which now works while you’re moving instead of requiring the device to be stationary. This should be a big improvement and have a much more noticeable impact on the battery life savings. Users who tend to interact with their notifications a lot will love the new notification controls that come along with Android 7.0 Nougat as they can do things like silence the notifications from apps directly from the notification itself. While there are no major sweeping changes to Nougat like there were with the jump from KitKat to Lollipop, there are plenty of fine tuned features which have been added in with everything else listed here, like altering display size elements and text size, as well as seamless updates, although those will only be available on select new devices which have yet to launch. Out of what’s available so far since the update was pushed out this week, what’s your favorite thing about Android 7.0 Nougat?
